Information regarding suspicious SMS texts regarding Covid 19 vaccinations

We have been informed by NHS Digital that some patients may have received suspicious or bogus texts  as part of an SMS SPAM campaign  that is exploiting the SMS alerts that are sent out by GP surgeries. Examples of the texts are pictured.

These campaigns variously claim to be from the UK Government, the NHS, Test and Trace, GP surgeries, pharmacies, or from other health organisations like the WHO. Typically, the content of these messages attempts to direct users to phishing sites or connect them to high-cost premium number services, although in some cases the messages contain false or misleading information about the Coronavirus vaccines themselves.

If you do receive one of these texts, please do not click on any links that may also direct you to a bogus website. Instead please contact the Practice and we will inform the Action Fraud  (part of the National Fraud and Cyber Crime Reporting Centre). You can also forward a copy of the text to the free 7726 SMS reporting service.

Thank you for your assistance
